EU High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission (HR/VP) Catherine Ashton was in Delhi from 21-24 June.
EU High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission (HR/VP) Catherine Ashton was in Delhi from 21-24 June. She attended the EU-India ministerial meeting and a series of meetings with members of the Government of India, including PM Singh, National Security Adviser Menon, Home Affairs Minister Chidambaram and Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Ravi. In addition, HR/VP Ashton gave a speech on EU-India relations at the India International Centre and met representatives of the UN and civil society to discuss women and children’s issues. She also visited an EU funded project aiming at supporting local communities and promoting livelihood through tribal culture. Mrs Ashton was accompanied by General van Osch, Head of the EU Military Staff, and Gilles de Kerchove, EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator.
