Birla Institute of Technology was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by B.M. Birla with a vision to be recognized as a world-class learning institution for engineering and technology by providing the highest-quality academic programmes that foster student development and connect knowledge, practice, and outstanding scholarly research. The Institute has been accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) & the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) established by the UGC & AICTE respectively. BIT, Mesra is a "Deemed University" under Sec. 3 of the U.G.C. act 1986.
